Kiki
When I met my husband (who was still my boyfriend at the time), he already had a cat: Kiki. Kiki was born on June 11, 2015 and at the age of about six months he had adopted Kiki from a foster family. Her exact past is unknown to us. However, almost all of her teeth and molars were pulled at a young age.
Kiki was very anxious at first and did not show herself to visitors. As the years went by we saw her change positively. Kiki loved attention and after years of hiding she often started to greet visitors first and when you sat on the couch she liked to walk around you to give headbutts and ask for petting. If you gave in, there was a loud purr and she eagerly started to "knead bread" on your legs. She had a very high meow that she was only too happy to let out.
Of all our cats, Kiki was a bit of an underdog - she didn't really bond with any of them and she didn't really like them herself. If she could, she preferred to be alone or with her people. But most of all, she loved being outside.
In our previous home, Kiki hardly went outside and she had gained a lot of weight. When we moved to Meijel, she had a large backyard at her disposal and she loved being outside. The pounds flew off and she was back to her normal weight and her sociable self in no time.
Unfortunately, Kiki did not settle for the backyard. We lived in Meijel for almost half a year when Kiki crossed the main road in front of the house on August 12, 2021 with fatal consequences: she was hit by a car... * Our worst fear became reality, and this sudden loss without saying goodbye still causes us great sadness. We can only hope that Kiki died immediately from the impact and did not notice much of it.
*Since Kiki's death, the backyard fence has been replaced with a sturdier construction.
