On October 15, 2023, we went to the cat show of the Dutch Pedigree Cat Association in Woudenberg. For Gaia it was the first time she visited a cat show and for me as an owner it was the first time with my own cat!
Preparations for the show had already begun a few days before and the time had finally come.
We got up early to get to the veterinary check on time. The car ride went well and Gaia passed the first inspection well.
When we arrived at the hall, we were assigned a cage and a cage number that we could use that day. At first, it was a little uncomfortable for Gaia. It is exciting to be in such an unfamiliar room with lots of people and other cats around you. But Gaia quickly found her niche.
In the morning it was our turn to be inspected by the judge. Gaia also passed everything very well. She was described as a real Savannah who looks very beautiful and she received the qualification "U" on her certificate. This stands for "Excellent, suitable as a show animal and very suitable for breeding." For us, the long day was worth it.
The day was longer than planned because the cat show was 1.5 hours late. Towards the end of the day, it was also becoming increasingly difficult for Gaia to relax in the cage. By playing with her a lot, she was able to release some of her energy and became calmer over time. By the end of the show, she had even fallen asleep.
All in all, we look back on a great day with a great qualification.
