On March 16 and 17, 2024, the world show of the Dutch Association of Cat Friends (NVVK) and Limbra Cat Club (LCC) was held in Panningen.
We, cattery SavVal, were at the world show on March 16 with our breeding cat Gaia. Panningen is 15 minutes from Meijel, which makes it ideal to participate in this cat show.
We had to register Gaia under the breed "domestic cats" instead of the cat breed "Savannah". The reason for this is that the NVVK does not recognize the Savannah as a cat breed within their association. But this didn't spoil the fun. Even though we could not win any points or prizes, the interest from visitors, breeders of other cat breeds, exhibitors and judges was great. And this is why we do it!
People are curious, ask questions and want to take pictures of Gaia. This is because they have often never or barely seen a Savannah. This was also the reason that Gaia was also given a private inspection by another judge at the show after the regular inspection by the judge.
It's nice to see that we received so much positive interest in a cat breed about which misconceptions are often spread. Often these misconceptions are incorrect and relate to individual cats rather than the entire breed. By attending cat shows we hope to refute these misconceptions.
We look back on a wonderful show day where family and friends helped and came by, we made new contacts with cat breeders, exhibitors and photographers and we would like to thank the NVVK and LCC for their good organization of this world show.
